Power for Health

For 75 years Direct Relief has delivered medicine and medical equipment for people who are affected by poverty, natural disasters, or other emergencies. The organization works to ensure that the healthcare professionals in low-resource communities can maintain, expand, and improve health in their community, without regard to politics, religion, or ability to pay. Healthcare systems are increasingly dependent on power to operate clinical and diagnostic equipment, access electronic medical records, and store temperature-sensitive medicine. As natural disasters, like hurricanes and wildfires, become larger and more frequent, extended power outages can leave thousands without healthcare. Direct Relief’s Power for Health Initiative brings clean, renewable backup power to community health facilities to ensure they can deliver critical health services when needed most. Consistent power sustains critical care, protects life-saving medicines, and improves health outcomes in vulnerable communities.
