Family Engagement Lab’s mission is to catalyze partnerships between schools and historically underserved families – including low-income families, multilingual families, and families of color – so that families can fully support their child’s learning at home and allow students to achieve their full potential. Our signature tool, Families and Students Talk (FASTalk), provides families with engaging, at-home learning activities in their home language via text messages. FASTalk builds parents’ knowledge of learning strategies and their understanding of what their child is learning at school, helps teachers share research-based content and engage diverse families in students’ learning, and enables the students who are furthest behind to reach their full potential.
