We deserve access to models that explain the mechanisms of credit. Current credit scorers such as Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian all fail on timeliness, clarity, and business process regimen.
DeFICO is an innovative program born out of housing-hack-a-thons with Code for Cville and sponsorship from the Center for Civic Innovation to help expand credit access and understanding through open source auditable credit scoring models. Partnering with local libraries through a national network we are working to make library cards the next Visa and setting new standards while focusing on maximized regulatory compliance.
