LOS ANGELES COUNTY MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY FOUNDATION

The mission of the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County (NHMLAC) is to inspire wonder, discovery, and responsibility for our natural and cultural worlds. NHMLAC comprises the Natural History Museum in Exposition Park as well as the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum in the mid-Wilshire area. Together we serve approximately 1.2 million visitors annually. Of these, close to 200,000 are K-12 students and teachers from throughout Los Angeles County who receive free field trips and engage with our educational content through a variety of hands-on activities grounded in Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards. Founded in 1913, today NHMLAC draws from a collection of more than 35 million objects to help us to better understand how life survives, thrives, or perishes on planet Earth.
