El Faro is committed to serving the abandoned and neglected dogs and cats of Puerto Rico.  Our mission is to improve the lives of these animals, and find them loving, caring homes, and to reduce the population of homeless animals in the island.  We promote education regarding humane treatment, proper treatment and the importance of spaying and neutering animals to help reduce the population of strays on the streets and in our communities.  Increase education and awareness of the issues affecting the stray animal population, and the humane options to change the patterns of abuse, neglect and abandonment.  Focus on youth and children to educate them, and help them become caring,, responsible adults.
