The mission of (often called NBIL) is to support vulnerable people and strengthen communities in Liverpool through practical help, mental health support, advocacy, and social inclusion.
Core mission and objectives are to:
relieve poverty and financial hardship
promote good health and wellbeing
improve mental health
reduce social isolation
create job opportunities
reduce food waste by using surplus food
unite communities
provide a safe and supportive environment
NBIL is a grassroots community organisation focused on helping people facing hardship, especially around:
food insecurity
mental health challenges
homelessness and housing instability
unemployment
social exclusion
The organisation was founded in 2019 by Michelle Roach, originally as a social prescribing and advocacy service to help people access support services and express their needs.
Some of our main activities include:
a foodbank and low-cost community store
mental health boxing and peer-support groups
warm meals and "warm space" sessions
outreach and advocacy work
school holiday programmes for children
support for vulnerable adults and families
