Deir Yassin Remembered exists to educate the public about the 1948 massacre of more than 100 Palestinian civilians by Jewish terrorists at the village of Deir Yassin. One major goal is to build a truth and reconciliation center on the site of that destroyed village. The organization also has a broader educational objective. It works to reduce prejudice against Palestinians and showcase the human side of a people who have been the victims of the Zionist colonization of their land and of Israeli apartheid. Through press releases, documentary presentations, and other activities Deir Yassin Remembered strives to heighten awareness, particularly on the part of the American public, concerning Palestinian grievances, and thus enhance support for a just and durable resolution to the conflict.
