Volunteers in Psychotherapy (VIP), founded in 1998, aims to correct problems in psychotherapy experienced in public clinics and through managed care: there can be limited access to (and severe rationing of) psychotherapy, and a lack of privacy and client control. VIP clients "pay for" their therapy with our Licensed Psychologists, Social Worker, etc. by independently and privately doing volunteer work for the community charity or government agency of their choice. Volunteer work provides clients with greater self-sufficiency and involvement in the community, while requiring some contribution and commitment from clients that benefits other local people served by community charities.
